It’s weird how time passes but we feel no older. Well, my knees feel older, but you know what I mean. Back then I was working in an office job I hated, a couple of years later I became a teacher, so my writing was on hold for a few years, then I got a publishing deal, then I bailed… and thirty years has passed!
🤯
What did you study at college? I started with History/English but found I was better at English.
Back in my junior year of high school was near the start of Stephen King's career, and he inspired me to become a novelist. I told everyone I knew that I was going to be a bestseller and make $75 million. 50 years later, I'm $74.999 million short, but at least I got the novelist part right. But in terms of college, I got a degree in Journalism and was a journalist for most of my career.
I think journalists, like English teachers, want to be novelists. Why? Because we love stories.
I’ve never made enough to be financially comfortable, I’ve said this before, but I could make more driving an Uber part-time. But doing this, I don’t have to drive an Uber, and I get to write!
But what, James, but what?
Zero qualifiers, Evan ☺️
This is very cool! How long ago was it?
It was 1997. Shit that’s almost thirty years ago. I’ve been peddling the same nonsense ever since ☺️
You're just a lad compared to me. I graduated college in 1978. 😄 But I look young for my age.
