Thank you! I love scrappy little Dakota. Feral, but smart, with a good heart and solid instincts even in this very strange place. She figures out how far she can trust certain people. It’s also fun to see her three enemies figuring out the old-new world. I’m interested in this underlying theme: how does a person’s character survive a change in the world? They go though a time-travel portal from a desperate, post-apocalyptic Mad Max world (fun to catch the reference! More meaningful than they knew!) back to our high-trust busy world. I’m also enjoying Jane Smith’s POV, and seeing how she bonds with Dakota. I want to find out what happens next.

Dakota decides she wants to stay in this safe world (but I won’t give away any spoilers), and other characters already mentioned come up later in the story - or in the second and third books in the trilogy.
